A time for new beginnings: starting my blog

For my first post, I'm going to keep it short and sweet: welcome!

Writing has always been a part of my life, whether it was writing short stories as a kid, or articles for my school paper. All I know is that I want to write. My big goal is moving to New York City after school and writing for a fashion or arts publication, maybe even one day becoming an editor. But for now, I'm in school, in Minnesota, studying journalism and fashion, and writing nonetheless.

The other great love of my life: fashion. Oh the joy! Since day one I had been a little fashionista, putting together outfits, playing dress up, designing dresses for my Barbies; it's heaven. Now, I've dabbled in sewing and designing, but my heart lies in styling. I love everything about getting dressed: the clothes, the shoes, the bags, the jewelry, the hair, the everything.

I want to mix these two loves together and write about fashion and my life, share all my tips and opinions, and of course my outfits. So, welcome to Life by Lainey!

For the past few years I've thought about starting this blog, but never fully committed. Now, I've gotten into the groove of summer, I'm about to transfer schools, I'm in a good headspace, and I have a clear vision for the future; the best time to start Life by Lainey is now.

I'm really excited but also really nervous to take this leap. I have this fear that I'll be made fun of, or that people will talk for the wrong reasons. I've kept myself so small for too long, now I want to be big and share my passions with everyone and show off who I am. And the truth is, I'm not starting this blog to become famous or an influencer, I'm starting this because I LOVE fashion and I LOVE writing. Being a writer is my dream, and if we're being honest, I'm so antsy and can't wait until after college when I can start my career. So in the meantime, here I am sharing what I love and writing for all of you!

Not only am I writing to satisfy myself, but also for everyone out there who loves fashion. I hope to inform and entertain with my writing and I'm always open to suggestions of what you want to read. This blog is as much for me as it is for you.

That being said, I'm going to post every Monday at 5pm. I'll share anything from my life as a journalism student, to red carpet trends, to outfit ideas, etc etc etc. Nothing is off limits.
