Although September is a fall month, it has been unbelievably warm. In my mind, back to school is synonymous with fall fashion. However, when the weather is around 80 degrees most days, multiple layers and sweaters aren't the most comfortable options. For this post I compiled some outfits I've worn over the last few weeks with some tips to styling summer and warm-weather-friendly pieces for autumn.

Outfit 1:

I wore this for my first day of classes this semester, which doubled as the break in the heat wave of Labor Day weekend. To celebrate, I wanted to wear a fall-esque outfit, but still be conscious of the warmer weather. To do so, I focused on wearing dark colors and the cut and knit fabric of the top to bring in fall aesthetics, but still not overheating.

Best part about this outfit, is that it can easily be altered to fit colder weather by adding tights, a jacket, and changing sleeve lengths.

Outfit 2:

I absolutely LOVE this outfit. I wore this to class, then for when I was getting coffee and running errands. I felt so "city girl in the fall."

With the babydoll tank top I was still weather appropriate and able to survive how warm it is in my classrooms, but when there is a chill in the air, I was able to put on this incredible suede jacket that was my mom's to stay warm on my walks. The jacket also adds to the outfit and looks intentional, which in my opinion makes it so much better.

Outfit 3:

This outfit was formulated all around one signature piece: THE BOOTS! I have such cute boots but get nervous to wear them to class because they all have a significant heel and I worry people are going to think that the heel is a little much for class. And then I thought about it more and decided to say screw them and their judgements, it is mostly in my head anyway and I doubt they are truly judging. Why not wear super cute boots to class?

Using a similar formula to the first outfit, I wore fall colors bringing in black and a warm-toned orangey brown, but kept it weather appropriate with a sleeveless top.

Outfit 4

A hallmark of fall fashion for me is the art of layering. When it is pushing 85 degrees however, layering becomes a little trickier. For this outfit, I played with layering but kept it breezy with the crochet cardigan. This piece can be styled for many seasons, but to make it more autumnal, I paired it with neutral creams and browns.

P.S. I'm obsessed with these pants. Shoutout Goodwill!

Outfit 5:

When putting together this outfit I was going for preppy with a little bit of edge to it. Once again playing with layering, I took a fall/winter fashion staple, a sweater vest, and rather than layering it on top of a turtle neck or button up, I just wore it over a simple tank top to keep it sleeveless.

Having the leather jacket for for staying warm outside once again adds to the outfit by tying in textures from the tall boots. To juxtapose the edginess with the preppyness, I have the leather accents against the classic sweater vest, plaid skirt and headband, an homage to Blair Waldorf.

Outfit 6:

The season of the witch is upon us and that is what I wanted to accomplish with this outfit. Taking a classic black mini dress, I added interest with the belt. I put it on above my waist creating almost an empire waistline effect. The silver buckle against the all black just screamed "witch" to me. Lastly, I added black leg warmers with my boots, another great fall accessory.

Outfit 7:

This last outfit is definitely the blueprint for a hot fall day. The skirt is neutral fall colors with a fall floral. Paired with the monochrome browns and creams, the perfect warm fall outfit is created.

I hope you enjoyed these fall transition outfits and feel inspired. I'm crossing my fingers and manifesting cooler weather (but not cold weather just yet!) The best season of fashion is just beginning, and so are my fall fashion posts, so stay tuned!
