10 top picks for fall 2022 fashion

We are just now halfway through the fall months, so why not give you guys a list of my fall-must-haves and favorite trends for fall fashion? Fall is fashion's favorite season, and personally where my wardrobe shines. Here's some of my favorite fall fashion trends of the season, and of all time.

1. Vests!

I have been LOVING vests this season. They were a big trend this summer and are now moving into the fall, just styled differently. And when I say vests, I don't mean puffer vests (although those are so cute for fall as well) I mean sweater vests, leather vests, suit vests, and stuff of the like. I've thrifted so many good vests over the last couple months, so they're easy to find secondhand at a good price. I think they're so versatile and had an extra umph to an outfit. Wear some jeans, throw on a long sleeve or sweater and add a vest and BOOM you have a cute outfit for the fall season.

2. Fun Jackets

A jacket is a no brainer as it gets later into fall (especially right now brrrr). Your outfit doesn't need to be covered up by a jacket; your jacket can become a part of your outfit. You can get so fun with your jacket choices. You can be classy, funky, and overall just show off your personal style with how your jacket looks. My fav jacket at the moment is a little paisley patterned number I thrifted in August. It's not super heavy, so it is better for early fall (but I'll be wearing it anyway). Another type of jacket I've been loving are capes. I think they're so chic and have an old-Hollywood feel to them. If you're looking for a new piece to add to your wardrobe this fall, a good cape is the way to go.

3. Hair Accessories

Maybe this is the inner Blair Waldorf in me talking, but I think a good headband can add so much to an outfit. Hair accessories can even save you from a bad hair day or hair on wash day, so what's not to like! A bandana, clips, hats, or of course, a headband looks so cute and is the perfect completion to an outfit.

4. BOOTS!

What on Earth is fall fashion without boots??? Boots and fall fashion are a timeless pairing. There are so many different styles it is easy to find a pair that matches yours. There's combat boots, ankle booties, tall boots, over-the-knee boots, platforms, and all sorts of others in all sorts of colors and heel heights. I do have to say, I'm a Doc Martin combat boot girly. They have been my top shoe for the past 2 falls and variations of the sort prior to that as well. I picked the Docs with a little heel height for a more feminine touch. My other fav boots right now and my white ankle booties. They go into all seasons and just make every outfit look chic. What I currently am on the lookout for are some brown boots and booties. That would make many of my fall outfits complete.

5. Sweaters, duh

Sweaters are another timeless fall fashion staple. No matter your style, you can always find a sweater that is perfect for you. Sweater trends fluctuate with the times as any other piece does; for example, we're moving out of cropped sweaters and back into more fitted or oversized, another sweater trend is crocheted sweaters (if you're looking for these, check out small businesses)! A sweater makes an outfit effortlessly cute (while looking like you put so much effort in) and effortlessly cozy.

6. TURTLENECKS!

Similar to sweaters, a good turtleneck or mock-neck shirt is a timeless chic piece of a fall wardrobe. I am personally in love with turtlenecks. I own multiple colors of both long sleeve and sleeveless tops. They're so classic and make an outfit look refined. They are also a really great piece for layering! They come in many colors, textures, and weights giving you amble ways to fit one into your style. I could go one about my love for turtlenecks, but I'll save that for another time and jump into my next pick.

7. Tights

Tights are not only practical for fall, but also add a flare to your fall outfits. There is a lot of variety for tights and look so cute under skirts and dresses. I love patterned tights and they make fleece-lined tights which are even more practical. I have the cutest semi sheer patterned tights that I love wearing to add extra interest to my outfit.

8. Trousers/Slacks

Trousers are another trend that has become popular in the last year and are here to stay this fall. I think they add a chic aspect to outfits and come in so many varieties. Even though they are trendy right now, they still translate as a classic and versatile piece that can be worn and styled into other seasons and multiple events. I bought a pair of black slacks from Target for work and I fell in love with them as just normal everyday pants. They are so flattering and are my favorite piece right now.

9. Flannels and Plaids

I have been a plaid shirt girly forever. They are such a great layering piece. They are also really easy to thrift and find at a good price. Pictured above is the plaid shirt I wear almost every day of my life, so I'd say it's a staple for me for sure.

10. Purses

I LOVE a good purse. My current fav is a brown faux croc shoulder bag, but I also love my black saddle bag. A handbag adds practicality and doubles as a cute accessory to any outfit.
